week #3

It's official, I suck at losing weight.

Last week I didn't even post - know why? Because I worked out, tried to eat well and still gained a pound. Shit. Every time I sat down to write a post it was super negative and I just don't need that, so I skipped class.

I'm happy to announce that this week I am back at square one. Joy. Know what I did to lose the pound? Not a thing; I didn't work out and I really didn't worry too much about what I was eating. In fact I don't think I really gained a pound the other week, I think the scale went up because I ran out of Jamie Lee Curtis yogurt.

The past two weeks I did have some bright spots:
* Went to the gym on Valentine's Day! Know who hangs out at the gym at 8PM on Valentine's Day? Me and some guy with a Scott-Ian-from-Anthrax beard. Oh yeah.
* Chewed gum instead of snacking.
* Threw away half a batch of cream cheese frosting that was in the freezer because it was calling my name.
* Didn't buy any junk food at the store.

This week I need to focus on:
* Drinking more water - I usually do really well, but I want to keep track of it.
* Eating more fruits and veggies.
* Working out.

:)

No matter what the scale says I'm still proud of you for trying :)

Glad you're back in! I had a crap week last week, so I know how you feel!

Your V-Day at the gym with the duse from Anthrax sounds kind of fun- way better than mine- fighting with the husband!

I don't understand why people say you lose "tons" of weight breastfeeding??? I am having similiar issues w/ losing weight. It just won't come off! I think my metabolism has slowed since having kids..or maybe my body is not willing to part with the reserves.

Anywho, I promise to post soon! :)

Started on the treadmill in January, up to fast walking 4 miles a day. eating slower and less, drinking more water, and having nothing to eat after supper.
Doing this for 2 months and now I am at my heaviest weight ever.
I am stronger and so frustrated that if I were every attacked, I think I could beat the sh1t out of anyone.

These weeks are normal and to be honest a one pound difference is really not that earth shattering in either direction and it's possible if you'd weighed yourself earlier or later the same day you'd have gotten different results. Just focus on what habits you want to change, which ones you are unwilling to and try to stick with it. And don't forgo all snacks - it's going to make you irritable and crazy and you'll probably just over indulge later. I have a small "dessert" every night and was still losing weight before the pregnancy. ;)

I'm with Becky. I had the same results with breastfeeding, it made me retain pregnancy weight. I lost 5 lbs the week I dried up with Noah, and I lost a lot faster after I dried up. Everyone's body reacts differently to it. Plus, having a baby SLOWS your metabolism....like a mutherfu#*er. So don't worry about the first weeks results, and if you eat more veggies and drink more water, you know you will be healthier no matter what the scales says.

Have you looked at self.com? I love that site, and the self challenge starts in March. It's a place to keep a food diary, exercise log, etc for free. If I make myself do it religiously, then I think about it when I eat...I think "do I actually want to record this in my food diary and add X calories to my total?" There's a lot of just healthy lifestyle info on there, it's not all just about losing weight.

I was fortunate and lost weight while b-feeding but gained 7lbs of it back after I stopped.

I feel your pain about maintaining weight.....with my thyroid problem, I have to work double time to lose weight. I'm lucky if I lose 1 or 2lbs a week when I'm super strict about bread and pasta and enriched stuff. It's tough.

I give you a lot of credit for doing it - pass some of that motivation my way!!

HEy sweetie, I'm right there with you, I suck at losing weight, but I joined a weight loss competition at work. I have my second (after 2 weeks) weigh in tomorrow, you know what I think it will say? Up a pound or two. Cause I suck at exercising. But I'm starting over tomorrow and if you want a buddy on line I'm there for you cause I could sure use someone to talk to about it.

Don't get discouraged! Just keep at it and even if you don't lose all the weight you want to as quickly as you want to, you'll know that you are beginning to lead a more healthy lifestyle, and that in the long run is what's most important.
