odors

I know it's just a part of being pregnant, but this heightened sense of smell is really distracting. I seem to have an odor of the week. Last week it was baby poop, nope, no babies in my house, and I still could smell it, blech. The week before it was asphalt - J says that's probably because of the recently finished roof, but he couldn't smell it. And this week the smell is ham. Not just any old ham, I feel that this is the smell of lunch meat that you let sit in the fridge too long and I can smell it everywhere! But it kind of makes me think of Hamwinkies.

Wait until you have the aversions. I couldn't stand to be in the same room as chicken for the first few months of pregancy with Ava.

The hidden baby poop smell makes me laugh though. Today I was trying to watch a movie and I was really into it, and Noah crawled right in front of my face and parked his butt....which was poopy. Yuck!

I could not stand the air freshner in the bathroom at work. It was okay for 2 years up until that point, but when I got pregnant it had to go!

At least you are feeling nauseous. Hope you avoid that symptom.

The heightened sense of smell is the worst. I had a mystery smell in the refridgerator for months that would make me gag. I seriously had to have Eric open the fridge for me while I stayed in the other room. It turned out to be something dripped on a cardboard container of Capri Sun's. I had Eric clean the fridge 4 times before we figured this smell out. LOL.

Hope all is well!

I wasn't bothered by my heightened sense of smell so much, but it was the food adversions that drove me nuts. The sight of red meat made my stomach turn. Since giving birth 7 weeks ago, I have noticed that my sense of smell is stronger overall, but it doesn't make me sick. I think it's some sort of evolutionary factor. I can smell if Christopher is wet or dirty from an arms length away, (or sometimes when I walk into the room) whereas my husband cannot smell him until he is changing him. Are you fatigued? The first trimester is the worse with nausea and fatigue (at least for me). Congratulations and keep us posted!
