I craved wine when I was pregnant but only in the 2nd trimester. I'm sure your husband wouldn't mind you dragging him to a local pub for bar food and a beer - as long as you only take a sip, mind you! ;)
The whole alcohol when you are pregnant thing is so fascinating to me. When I was pregnant with C, I went to a work going away party to a couple from Ireland. They were shocked that I wouldn't have a small glass of wine to celebrate. I said that it's not the wine that I'm scared of, it's the reaction from the other American women patrons! And it's true. Europeans have such a different attitude towards it.
Now I'm not condoning drinking while pregnant, but I think that if you are craving a beer, you'd be OK to have just a sip. ;) Trust me, your husband will thank me! Ha, ha!
I agree with Heather. It's blown out of proportion here. If you read about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, it's been found in babies who have mom's who drink 4 drinks or more per day, every day. I agree too in the fact that I'm not promoting drinking while pregnant, and the choice is every individuals whether or not to have a celebratory wine or been every now and again, but I don't believe one drink will hurt....or there's always the non Alcoholic beers. O'douls isn't that bad when you're craving a frosty one!
I can't imagine not drinking for 9 months. Not that I drink that much any more at all, but the occasional glass of wine is great. You are going to have the cutest baby ever though, so it is worth the wait. I haven't had beer in 1 year if it makes you feel any better. Real beer that is...
